How can i creat video intros, like for example in podcast you get those nice animated things with the name of the show and stuff. How do i make that? What is it called? is there an app for mac that makes them?

You could try adobe after effects. It's not as hardware taxing as motion and if you know hoe to use photoshop you should be able to the hang of it pretty fast.

Motion seems to be more advanced though, yet I'm not sure.

Any thing els, I would love one that is free. I dont have the money for after effects.

People have done some cool things in Adobe Flash as well. Really, any kind of animation or effects programs will do what you want, there's no specific one that everybody uses.

Motion and After Effects would probably be the most powerful.

I don't believe you will find anything for free, except maybe Blender, but that's more for 3D stuff.

I use Livetype, but I believe I-Movie has a few titling features, but I am not entirely sure, as I don't use it at all. I-Movie Users chime in here?

iMovie has a few cool ones that you can use, they are called "themes" otherwise LiveType has cool templates that you can use.

They are called "motion graphics." Motion would be your best bet, pricewise and learning curve wise if you haven't done anything like this before. There really isnt anything for free that you can design motion graphics with. It is a pretty difficult discipline to do well, not something you can just whip out in a weekent with no preknowledge. (disclosure: I am a motion graphics broadcast designer.lol:) )
