Hey there. I'm rockin' a mid-2012 rMBP 15". At some point in the last 1-2 years, I've started having issues using Safari. I notice that when I am playing videos through Youtube or Netflix, the video will stutter or straight up freeze after a few seconds. The freezing resolves when I move my mouse, but within about 10 seconds, it freezes again. This results in me having to move my mouse constantly to watch videos.
This does not occur in Chrome, and is isolated to Safari only.
This was happening back on El Capitan, and persisted with a fresh install of Sierra. In addition to completely restoring Sierra from scratch, I've cleared all settings in Safari, and disabled both extensions that I have in Safari, without success.
I feel like this is a software issue, but I'm somewhat concerned about a hardware issue as well. The reason I'm concerned about hardware is because when I had the battery replaced, they stated that a hardware test showed an issue with a heatsink, and recommended I pay $200 to have the laptop sent back to Apple for a replacement heatsink and logic board. When it was returned to me, they had only replaced the heatsink without actually replacing the logic board according to the invoice I got when it was returned.
Anyone have any pointers from a software perspective? Any benefit of trying High Sierra? Should I take it back to the Apple Store? Any advise would be awesome.
