just got a new mac mini. had it all hooked up and noticed that everything was way too big so i went to system preferences to set the video resolution. i must have selected the wrong one because once i selected a resolution, my monitor went black and i had a "floating" message on the monitor stating that i had the incorrect monitor resolution. problem is, no matter what i do, i can't get the monitor to go back to the system so that i can re-select a resolution. the message on the monitor is coming from the monitor, not the mac. i've tried multiple hard shut downs and restarts all to no avail as i keep getting the monitor message.

Have you tried to reset PRAM?

Press Command+Option+P+R when start up the mac. Keep pressing it until the mac reboot the second time.
