I have a brand new
iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2015, El Capitan 10.11.2
3.2 GHz Intel Core i5,
8 GB 1867 MHz DDR3

Anytime I try to play a video in Chrome (47.0) on youtube or through a post in facebook, the wheel will spin and load the video but never actually play the video. The mouse will often become inactive when this happens as well. (meaning, the mouse will not perform a click on any other part of the screen) I can play video on Safari and sometimes on Firefox but never on Chrome. On youtube, I often get this message "The following page has become unresponsive, you can wait for it to become responsive or kill it". When I select "Kill", I get an "Aw, Snap Something went wrong displaying this webpage". The other message I get on youtube while it tries to load is "If playback doesn't begin shortly, try restarting your device." In Facebook, if you click on a video in someone's post, the image goes black and a white pinwheel appears, attempting to load the video. Again, the mouse will become inactive, not even allowing you to 'x' out and close the video. Hitting the "Stop" and "Reload" next to the address bar has no effect either.

The steps I have tried so far that have had no effect:

-Empty cookies/browsing history
-reset Chrome
-reinstall Chrome
-make a new "profile" in Chrome
-Update Flash
-unplug and restart modem
-Unchecked the "Use hardware acceleration when available" in Chrome System Settings
-Changed DNS settings
-Deactivate all Extensions

I don't have any other applications open when I'm doing this. I'm pulling my hair out trying to figure this out, which is bad because I don't have a lot left.

Help me Obi-Wan, you're my only help.
