Video not showing up on webpages- please help!

I am a mac newbie.

Webages that include youtube videos were loading fine. I upgraded to Safari 5 and also installed VLC player not long after.

Now there is a blank space where videos would be on a web page.

Is this a flas issue? How do I correct?
