Has anyone noticed that their videos no longer play back smoothly after upgrading to Mountain Lion? At first I thought QuickTime was broken (apparently it was updated as part of the ML release), but VLC gives me the same result.

It's especially noticeable in scenes where there is a lot of motion.

What machine are you using?

I'm using a 2010 13" running ML and I'm getting flawless playback with a 720p video playing via vlc.

Its fine on my end. If you want to make Safari+youtube work well check the link in my sig.

EDIT: Its better than fine. 4K plays even smoother now.

Sorry, I should have updated this thread. It seems to have been some kind of temporary glitch. Peculiar, though, because I seem to remember it being there even after a restart.

I do have some problem with VLC.
The computer gets extremely hot in few second playing a 360p video.
Also, the video lags sometimes and when I fast forward it, it just lags more.

The video doesnt always lag but for few seconds, they dont play smoothly.
