While watching handbrake dvd rips (standard universal mp4 profile) which are kept on a drobo, playback is intermittently interrupted. Video & audio freeze, which if I press pause can be restarted a few minutes later.
It happens when no matter which program the video files are playing in (QTP7, QTX, VLC) and no matter how few other programs are running. My load average sits around 1.22, no data transfers are taking place and there don't seem to be any other obvious triggers (consistent or otherwise).
I'm running a late 2008 MBP 2.53 GHz, 4GB RAM w/~20GB free on the startup disk with 10.6.3 and all the latest updates (though this problem has occurred for as long as I've used the drobo (October 2009).
Before posting, I did spend a few hours jumping round the forums the google but to no avail. If anyone could shed some light on the possible source of this problem or even a solution, I would forever be indebted.
