video player doesn't play when iPhone locked

When I lock my phone the iOS video player (not YouTube) stops. If I bring up control center and press play it doesn't play. Music player works fine.

Very annoying. Is this normal? I have to keep my phone unlocked the whole time therefore drain battery quicker.

I'm on an iPhone 4 / iOS7. Thinking its a bug.

This happens to me as well! Every time when I play a video I cannot pause it and then do anything else, or the little stupid evil will start a strike!

I can pause and do everything. But I can't lock my phone and play the video at the same time. Two seconds after I press the top lock/off button video stops.

A bug or glitch on your end. Still works fine on my iPhone 4 with 7.1.1. Open up video -> play video -> press power button -> video stops -> press power button -> open control center -> press play -> screen turns off -> audio continues to play fine
