Hello,

I have recorded a lecture with wmrecorder and the .wmv file plays perfectly in WMP on windows.

When I come to my mac side of the computer, it doesn't play audio, only play video. I've tried all of the codecs and am out of luck. It won't even open in VLC some error with '.wmas'

Anyway, how can I tell if this is a DRM problem and I somehow need to remove the DRM from the file?

yes,

Flip4mac plays video but no audio.
divx player plays video but no audio
mplayer plays video but no audio
vlc does not play anything.

Edit: vlc now plays video, but no audio with this error message:
main: no suitable decoder module for fourcc `wmas'.
VLC probably does not support this sound or video format.

When you recorded it with wmrecord did the audio get created as .wma ?

There are lots of audio converters that can convert .WMA files to .MP3. Replay AV can convert captured stream to MP3 or M4B after recording it, but I suggest you to convert files later on and preserve the original files. You may use a freeware audio/video converter MediaCoder.

(All Windows ware, since that's how you created the WMV)

Or... http://www.easywma.com/ for Mac

If no to my original question, I digress and hope someone else might know!
