Video problem with FaceTime and Skype - help please!

All of a sudden FaceTime stopped working properly on my 2011 MBP (Core i5): I can see and hear my contacts, but they can't see or hear me. With Skype they can hear my voice and I can both see and hear them, but they can't see me. I tested the iSight camera with Photoboot and it works fine both for photos and videos. My firewall is off. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

I had this issue a while back, all I normally do is shut down my macbook and pull out the battery for like 15 seconds and that seems to always reset my camera. Restarting or just shutting down for seconds to minutes to even a couple hours never does the trick, but the battery out for some reason always does. No clue if this is a working fix but it does for me.
