So, they've upped the res of the video to 1080p. At 720 I had a rough guesstimate of taking 100mb per minute of video. Presumably this will now be 133mb.

I've only ordered a 16gb iphone, as I have a 32gb ipad which I use for most videos I want to carry around.

But does anyone think that the quality will be selectable on the 4S? Maybe I've made a mistake ordering a 16gb this time around!

Remember 1080p is greater in both horizontal and vertical resolution. 720p is 1280 x 720, 1080p is 1920 x 1080. So if your 100mb/min for 720p is accurate, you could expect 225mb/min for 1080p.

I certainly hope it is switchable between 720p and 1080p.

Otherwise, how will we be able to AirPlay videos shot with the iPhone 4S to the AppleTV ?
The AppleTV, with current SW, does not support 1080p30.

Of course, why would it not be?

It should have the standard resolutions of 360,480,720 and 1080.

The iPhone 4 only shoots 720p30, no choice of 360 or 480 formats.

I guess i wont be making very many videos... Do you know about how many MB's, for a picture?

From some of the answers above... is this selectable now and I'm just being a bit thick? Wouldn't be the first time...

RE Apple TV - would expect airplay/iphone to have to transcode on the fly I guess?

Now having a crisis as to whether I should cancel my existing order and order a 32gb!! But this may delay said order :(

Sure hope so for ability to change between 240p to 1080p, I do not want to have my Phone 3/4 capacity filled with videos

I agree you should be able to choose but I don't think you'll be able to.

The Apple TV will only display out up to 720p but it can take inputs from a 1080p signal and play it in lower resolution. I've tested this by playing 1080p videos on my Mac and playing them on Apple TV over AirPlay and Home Sharing.

This sucks. Maybe I did actually need to pay the "apple tax" and stump for 32GB :(

You can't select a lower res on the 720p iPhone 4 (even with iOS5 GM) - so it's by no means an "Of Course" situation.

Humm still a 1-2 week lead in UK on 32GB - Maybe I might change my order.

Or do you think I'm better calling apple CS to do this? will that not loose me my place in the queue?
