video quality problem

Hi
Can anyone tell me what presets I should be using to import video into Premiere Elements 10. I have a DV camera but the video looks horrible when I use the DV presets for my protect.
I know I must be doing something wrong as I had no problem with an older version on windows.
Please help

Are you using your DV camera to capture over Firewire? If so, the DV preset is indeed what you should be using. What looks wrong with it?

Many (most?) editing programs have playback/display settings that can adjust quality (lower quality for smoother performance). Is anything like that activated?

DV captured via FW is just a final transfer so the quality shouldn't change between machines or software used.

And PS... you could just be looking at the quality of DV. It used to seem pretty ok but by today's standards it looks awful.
