The reason I ask is that I sell used handsets and it would save me a lot of time in testing if it is the same mic for both functions. If so, my logic is that if I can hear myself clearly during a video recording then I don't need to worry about testing separatley for outgoing voice during calls.

Similarly, on the 3G model with no camcorder, is the same mic shared for calls/voice recorder?

Thanks in advance.

On the 4s and 4 there are two mics in use for calls for noise cancellation and I can't think of a way to test that out.

I would certainly think it is the same mic for video and a call where the speakerphone is in use though.

One of the phones I bought the seller clearly didn't know how to test the earpiece speaker without making a call as it was broken. You can use the built in notes app for that.
