We tried to render quite demanding and complex 15 min video from DaVinci, full of multi LUTs etc.

MBP M1 Max ... 26 min

PC with NVDIA RTX 3090 ... 12:50 min

Macbook Air M1 ... 1 hour 40 min

MBP 16''2019 i9 ... we will make it next week when back from service

MBP M1 Pro ... as soon as it arrives

Latest version optimised for M1 pro/max 17.4 installed?

Of course, nobody doubts that. This is just an information about the independent power. M1 is a bit disappointing.
I would class this as extremely impressive. The 3090 desktop vs a laptop and its half as fast. When you look at the size, power co sumptoom, price etc its extraordinary.

Yes, 3090 is bigger than the laptop itself :)

M1 Max took about twice as long (26:00 vs 12:50/RTX 3090) and you are calling that "a bit disappointing"? RTX 3090 is about half the size/price of the M1 laptop itself. If anything, it's impressive.

I am taking about M1 not M1Max ;)

I'm amazed an Air can do the job at all. Two years ago people would have laughed at trying to do that on an Air.

Just found this as mainly a PC user (with a 3090) whos ordered a M1 Macbook Max mainly for rendering out on Resolve.
Out of interest, how does the new M1 Max compare with the 3090 when using a bit of noise reduction?
I need a second computer as have 1000's of renders to do for work and want to try out the new M1.
While the PC with the 3090 card is beast, the heat it pushes out under load is insane and can't image having x2 deskop PCs working together.

M1 Pro user here.
When rendering my project with Windows 11 VM + Multiple browser with many tabs opening + Many side apps, the full system including the screen barely uses over 50W of power and the fans are spinning at about 1500RPM, which is barely to be heard.

M1 Max will definitely be louder but I bet it will never be no where near a 3090.
