I bought a new iMac about a week ago with Lion preinstalled after having a unibody macbook for 3 years. The following issue never happened on the macbook which had snow leopard.

Not sure why but I am having issues playing 720p or 1080p content from any website no matter if viewing through h.264 player on youtube or viewing an embedded quicktime movie. It does not appear to happen with lowres content or if I download the video and watch it then.

The progress bar will tell me the movie is loaded yet when I click play or unpause the video the progress bar suddenly changes to be only shortly ahead of the current point. It does not matter where I am in the video. Other times it appears to freeze yet I can view other sites fine.

If I reset the video playback point the progress bar resets as if the download has started again.

I can't seem to ever actually complete viewing a video as I have to pause the video to allow the content to download far enough to view completely but by doing that it appears to reset the download.

If I just let the video play and it hits the end of the current download progress I start getting jitter playback as expected but then if I pause it it keeps playing anyways.

If I let the video download completely and then come back to watch it it acts as if I am downloading it for for the first time.

I have clicktoflash installed.

Not sure if the is an iMac issue, a Lion issue or a Safari issue or a combination of all of them.

I already appear to be having a heating issue where the fans don't ever seem to kick in even with the GPU diode reaching 70c. I download a fan control app to increase the base fan rpm which seemed to help a bit but that seems unrelated to this issue.
