Hello, I recently bought my very first MacBook - a 13.3 inch MacBook Pro 2017 without a Touch Bar, with an Intel Core i7 processor, 8GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD.

I did a clean install of macOS Ventura by first formatting all two possible partitions and selecting APFS. I then installed the OS after accessing macOS Recovery with Option + Command + R. Everything went fine and I was happy to start exploring the new OS. Eventually, I found out that my macOS doesn't find a camera in System Information, but that's a separate issue.

The issue that I'm currently having is that all videos stutter! This includes all videos played in Safari (YouTube, Twitch...), videos played in Apple Music, local videos on the hard drive and even the Ventura screensaver! The stuttering occurs every 2 or so seconds during playback. I reset the PRAM and SMC, but that didn't help. Curiously the issue does not show up when I boot in Safe Mode. I checked the running background apps, but everything looks fine - both the CPU, RAM and Hard Drive are very far from being overwhelmed. I did another clean reinstall of the OS and the first thing I did after it was done was to open YouTube in Safari. The stutter was still there!

I've been reading all afternoon about what I could do and I'm honestly running out of options. Everything except the videos (and the camera) seems to run fine. I'd be very grateful for any suggestions as to how to fix this.

The issue seems to have resolved itself after leaving the laptop shut down for the night. Before shutting down I installed the Apple Pro Video Formats, as well as iMovie and VLC, so any of these may have had some effect.

Thank you for the suggestion. I was considering doing this, but now videos are playing properly.
