I need help with a few questions on computer setups for Digital Video editing. I have a Canon GL2 (loving it by the way) and an old ibook g3 500. Until I bought the GL2, the ibook was fine using imovie. But I have jumped up in the world and now have a very expensive camera with amazing picture quality. I have diecided to just go all out and buy a new 1.25 ghz g4 with a 1gig or ram. That was the easy part. But I want/need a fast harddrive. I would by a SCSI, but it just doubles the price of an already expensive computer. So I was thinking.....would a two 120 GIG, 7200 rpm hard drives on a raid work? And when i say work that means NO Gliches in the dv files I am transfering. Are would a 7200 rpm hard drive work better? Lastly, I do recording for people all the time because I am really good at making an awsome presentation with consumer editing products like iMovie. Would it be better to just record straight to the hard disk instead of using a tape and transfering it later? And how would that apply to using a raided set of disk or a single hd? Oh by the way, I use Final Cut Pro and Commotion to do my editing now.
