I recently inherited a dual 2GHz Powermac G5, late 2005, PCI Express slots version, with a GF 6600LE video card installed. Can I use a video card advertised as for the PCIe Mac Pros or not? If not, are there any options? All I can see on the regular sites, OWC etc, are for PCI X or AGP slots, which I know won't work.
Any advice appreciated:cool:

Your options are:

Coupla different 6600 PCIE cards....don't bother

7800GT..nice solid, fast card. New from WeLove Macs..$780...on Ebay flashed for $150...not a flash it yourself card unless you can solder SM stuff

X1900GT....Another nice card....may be available new somewhere, I haven't looked.Flashed on Ebay for around $150...or buy a PC one from Retek...should be flashable on a PC for $43

7800GTX512....fastest PPC card ever......flashed on Ebay for $350.....not a do-it-yourself card.

Quadro 4500.like $2,000 new if you find one. Or on Ebay around $400...nice but not as fast as the above

Thanks Rominator, for the very useful information. The price tags on the new cards at that store are WAY beyond my budget, so I will have to look for a used or a flashed card. But, being located overseas, buying from e-bay may be more trouble than its worth, Thanks again.
