Video Zoom: Digital or Uses Sensor?

In iOS 7, does the zooming in video mode still use a digital zoom, or does it use the sensor's full resolution?

I know third-party apps use full sensor resolution, like Videon, but I didn't know if Apple integrated that into the default Camera App (like how it didn't include 60 fps for the iPhone 5, but has an API for it).
