I have videos that I recorded on my old android phone years ago and placed them on my macbook. Before I updated to 10.6.8 the videos were working fine and had sound. Since I updated I have no sound on majority of the videos. I always view them on QuickTime player. I know I still need to go out and buy the new updated program. Could that be why there is no sound I have to buy the new program?

It may be due to a codec issue. No need to buy an QT software. Either try VLC Player or if you must use QT Player, you could try installing Perian (even if discontinued) to see, if it supports the audio codec of your files.

PS: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard comes with QT Player X, for which there is no buyable or Pro version available. You can still install QT Player 7 from this source.
