Watching high definition videos on my Air via VLC, I notice that it gets a little choppy/jumpy whenever there is a tracking shot in a movie. This behavior is new and I can't figure out why it started or how to fix it. Since I do a lot of movie watching on it, it is a high-priority for me to find out how to remedy it.

Here is what you do:
Open up a different user account.
Log into that user account.
Don't install any software yet!
See if the video still jumps.

It's not jumping. What do I do to fix it on my main account now?
Quick solution: Use the new account to watch videos only.

Long solution: Good luck finding the app/ softare interaction / plugin that caused it. :(

I have an extra account called 'itunes' for watching itunes 1080p movies because of a similar problem.
Tried to solve it for hours. No luck ...

Lesson to learn from this is:
99% of problems are software related.
A lot of people blame specs (ram, the usual suspect), which is nonsense and they think they need a new computer.

Should I leave the extra account as Standard or make it an Administrator like my other one? Is there any reason to make it one vs the other? Thank-you:)

That doesn't matter.
You are welcome :)

Is it normal for all applications that I installed on Admin account to be accessible via the new account? What changed between the accounts that stopped the choppy video if I'm using the same exact version of VLC on both?

That should mainly be the case.

to complicated to explain. Just remember to leave the new account as innocent as possible, meaning don't install too much new stuff. Otherwise you might end up doing it all over.
