Videos on external drive hiccup after update to macOS 14

I have an external hard drive formatted Exfat. When I play videos on it, there's a hiccup every few seconds. I didn't have this problem before the update to macOS 14. When I run first-aid on the drive, everything appears to be fine.

I should point out that I have another drive formatted APFS, and it doesn't have this problem.

I can't re-format the other drive as I would lose all those videos on it.

What do you think I can do?
