The Action Movie FX app was released in 2011 to wide media acclaim and was very popular, at the time. It was developed by JJ Abrams/Bad Robot, and allowed you to create Hollywood style action movie scenes with overlaying explosions and such. It was very simple but very novel for the time.
Back then, the primary means of posting videos online was on YouTube, and if I remember correctly the app would upload videos to YouTube through the app itself.
I am now receiving content strikes from YouTube for a video that “simulates violence” as though they think I am making an earnest threat with a silly video in which I launch an intercontinental ballistic missile directly at my grandmother.
This video was up for almost 15 years without issue, and actually brought great joy to my family, my grandmother included. I can recall many moments in which family members were in tears with laughter at the absurdity of the video - and that was the entire point. Now the video is gone forever as YouTube has removed it, never to be seen again.
I figured it is worth warning anyone that their YouTube accounts could be in danger of receiving strikes if they ever used this extremely popular app as it was intended.
