videos very slow to stream on home wi-fi

ok so I've tried youtube, trailers lite, box office and truveo and they are all the same, work for a few seconds and than stop, then they take forever to stream.
itunes store plays the 30 second song clips no bother and the rest of the web is fine.
tried the same videos on my mums router and they all played fine no bother, so must be a problem with my router??????
i'm with virgin media with the router connected through the modem, my mac runs fine as does everything else on my iphone apart from the videos.
anyone any ideas???

great advice thanks! There must be a problem with my router as 3g loads and plays video instantly. Only problem is my 3g reception in my house is crap.
