When I open a PDF with Safari am I viewing it with Safari itself or does Safari run the OS X native PDF viewer Preview? How does Safari handle PDF viewing? I'm running OSX 10.5 Safari 4.0.5.

When you open the PDF, the menu bar will tell you which app you are currently using, Safari or Preview, depending on your settings in Safari for handling PDFs.

I understand how to tell which program I am currently using. I am wondering more specifically if Safari and Preview use the same OSX native framework resources to display a PDF, or if there are two different frameworks for viewing a PDF in the system library.
