Okay, probably a really dumb question, but here goes...

On this old 2008 MacBook with Snow Leopard, I have been using Time Machine to backup my laptop to an external HDD about once a week.

The problem is that I've never used Time Machine to restore things. (Probably risky, I know!!)

----
So, here is what I am trying to do, but not sure what to expect...

I finally got my new MBP all tweaked and cloned and am *almost* ready to start using it. (A miracle, I know?!)

Yesterday, I took out the HDD of this old MacBook, stuck it in my External HDD Enclosure, and started using Path Finder to Cut & Paste (i.e. move) my Music Collection over to my new MBP.

The problem is that *technically* I have no way of knowing if everything was successfully moved over.

So to counteract this, here is what I was hoping to do...

After having moved about 300 GB of Data, would there be a way that I could insert my Backup HDD into the External Enclosure, plug that into my new MBP, fire up Time Machine, and then could I view the INDIVIDUAL FILES in Time Machine and use something like DeltaWalker to compare the Files in Time Machine to the ones I moved over to my new MBP - all without having to do an actual "restore"...

(The logic being that I ran Time Machine on my Backup HDD *just* before I Cut & Paste all of this data from my MacBook's HDD over to my new MBP's HDD, so if I could easily access that Backup from Time Machine, it would be a fairly accurate way to see if I successfully moved all of my data over to my MBP.)

Follow me?!

Sincerely,

Debbie
