I often use my iPhone's photo library for giving lectures, with different photo collections for different purposes. With version 2.x, I was able to pick any photo in any collection, hit the Play button and view the photo I selected.
I gave a lecture today with, for the first time, version 3.0.1. It appears for some reason, Play now only works from thumbnail view. When I select a photo, the play button then vanishes and only returns when I return to thumbnail view. This make a royal pain out of doing a presentation, because if I want a photo half-way into a collection, I have to start at the beginning and scroll through picture after picture until I get to the one I want.
That Play button is all important, because the iPhone won't output to an external monitor unless it's pressed. Does anyone know a way around this new "feature?" Why can't Apple just allow the iPhone to dump whatever is on its screen to an external monitor, like most computers do? It would make presentations so much simpler....
