Is there a certain format the videos need to be in? The only videos that seem to be working for me in finder and quicklook are ones that end in .mpg. I have a bunch of videos that end in .mp4, .avi, .wmv. Is there a good program to convert these to mpg?

You don't need to convert all your video's. Download Perian (google it), it is a pluging that allows almost all video formats.
Although I have heard reports that Perian no longer works on certain systems. It works in my case though, except for .flv and .wmv files.

perian works fine on leopard for me. you need to download flip4mac to use wmv in quicktime player/quick look. flip4mac is a quicktime plugin like perian so all you have to do is install it and your done! you can also watch embeded windows media in safari which is great when you viewing a web page developed just for pcs.
