They're asking $50,000 for everything. I have no association with the seller, but thought some folks here might be interested?

It kind of boggles my mind that someone could have all these in one collection, although as a museum I guess it makes sense to show how Apple evolved through the decades.

I just hope these don't all end up being scrapped but I suppose there are enough vintage machines elsewhere for posterity sake, if these do have that sad fate.

Out of curiosity for those here who do have vintage Apple computers, do they still work? Are they still useful, or more as decor (for lack of a better word)?

Does it go against the spirit of having a vintage computer to want to try to update it with newer technology? I guess in some cases (no pun intended) it's impossible to remove and replace the old with the new, but just wonder how folks here feel about that.

To each thier own. I like maxing out the older computers, bringing them up to modern-ish times, while still keeping the overall spirit of the original. For example, I’d upgrade just about every component I could except the logic board. In my opinion, the board and the case make the foundation for the computer. Increasing the speed otherwise is all fair.

I particularly like running much more modern software on much older computers, whether newer OS or just applications made way after support ended.

I am all for preservation of truely bespoke or otherwise uncommon computers. a-direct relationship between the weight and size of the object, is it a TAM, G4 Cube, iMac G4 or iBook clamshell? Then those items will be easier to sell (between 12-80 units sell on eBay per model monthly) due to their looks and lack of weight alone. Even to the layman. But we start talking CRTs, Pro workstations, Minitowers and as the weight increases it decreases the number of people willing to curate that item.
