Violet display - new MacBook needed

Hi there,
Now it happened to me. I have a MBP 2017 15“ which is my daily (only) work machine. Unfortunately, it total began to show violet stripes. A new start etc. didn’t help, so I think it’s time for annex one.
Unfortunately, I am in need for a working machine. As a teacher it is in daily use and must be portable (therefore only a mbp or mba).
As it is urgent and my budget is limited, I need some help.
So far, I only owned MBPs and never an Air. I need at least 16 GB and lots of storage.
What would u recommend? Is the air enough? What are your experiences with refurbished products? As I need it fast, I can’t BTO as all the last times.

You didn't mention anything over what specific things you use the laptop for so it's difficult for people to help.
There are some good deals on M1s out there right now, e.g. (new) an M1 Pro MBP with 16GB and 1TB at BHphoto for ~$1900, there are also pretty solid deals out there on MBAs, all new.

You can also check apple refurbs, which are fine, and are eligible for AppleCare.

The Airs can reach thermal throttling but it's less significant compared to the Intel MBAs, and generally are good systems. The MBP screens are a bit better and allow connection of more than 1 external display.
