Virgin Mac User....lost in Mac (want program to create cards and brochures)

My God...I almost needed help in finding a "help". I have been looking for hours just to find some kind of program that creates cards and brochures and flyers and such. There's thousands of things out there, most of which I have no clue about using. Please is there some seasoned Mac smart person out there to direct me?

Apple Pages (part of iWork 08, $80 or so) would suit, I'm sure.
