Hey everyone,

I recently came upon a weird glitch. It's nothing more than a slight annoyance, but I was curious to see if it was a known issue or if it may be an indication of a problem (I am running a Macbook Pro with the plagued nVidia 8600M GT, after all - can't be too careful).

Here's the issue: I recently rearranged my secondary monitor's position on my desk, complete with changing its position in the "arrangement" section of the display preferences, and now it looks as if there's a stuck white pixel on my secondary monitor. Hovering the mouse over it (or windows) shows that it can recolor just fine, however. The weird thing is that if I change the virtual placement of the monitor, the white dot shifts its position. In other words, it's as if I have a dead pixel in a specific portion of my virtual desktop space.

I've included three screenshots to show what I'm talking about. Note that you may need to view the images large in order to see the white dot, as it's basically just one pixel. I've combined the screenshots of both screens, but did not adjust the positions of the screenshots - you can see how I shift the position by looking at the preferences window at the lower screen.

Here's what it looks like without a problem (no need to view this one large):

If I shift the position a bit to the left, the white dot appears at the lower left of the upper screen (I've tried to make its presence more apparent by putting a red square around it to indicate its position):

If I shift even further to the left, the dot moves to the center of the screen (I have again put the red square around the white dot to make it more apparent):

I have intentionally shifted the image such that the white dot is against a dark part of the desktop, but the white dot appears against all colors. It's a rather curious thing.

I'm running Mac OS X 10.6.6 on a Macbook Pro (4,1). I run this system in a configuration with three monitors (two external) while at work and have never seen this issue before, but I've never positioned a virtual monitor at the upper left corner before.
