How well would a Virtual Machine (Paralles, VMWare, etc) perform if I dedicated 8GB of RAM and 512MB of video RAM to it?

I'm looking to get a iMac (2012, USB3) with 16GB of RAM, and a 1GB graphics card.

So, my question is: would these specs make the VM run like the OS was running natively?

Thanks.

A single virtual OS runs fine even on dual core i3 Sandybridge laptop CPU and integrated GPU. The imac have no problem handle any OS virtually as long as you got enough RAM and not running more than 2 Virtual OS at the same time.

The video RAM should not matter, since it is difficult to play any demanding 3D games in virtual OS.

You can wait until the new model is released to compare against the current model.

Thanks. The main reason I'm waiting, is for Ivy Bridge. (a la USB 3.0).
