I know this is probably a dumb question. But, is VirtualBox a Java app? I am wanting to know because I will be running Ubuntu in VirtualBox to run Java apps.

Thanks.

VirtualBox doesn't need to be Java in order to run Java apps in the VM. Install the base OS and install the appropriate version of Java within the VM OS and you should be fine.

Thanks; so VirtualBox is a "Native" application?

Yes, its a full native executable that does not run within java.

If it was, performance would be horrid, and I doubt very much it would have access to the virtualization technology in the hardware that makes these applications possible.

Thanks for the answer! I'm gonna be running Ubuntu in a VM to run Java apps.
