Question is, can VirtualBox, Virtualize an Intel platform ie. to run Windows XP in a VM - on a G5?

I realize this might be a totally insane question, but I can't find the answer anywhere.

No

From their documentation

In order to run VirtualBox on your machine, you need:

Reasonably powerful x86 hardware. Any recent Intel or AMD processor should do.
