Virus on email?

A friend emailed me and I opened it on my iPhone, and went to the website on the link. Then I get another email, that he got his first self-replicating virus and hopes no problem.

Any idea if such a virus would hit an iPhone, or are they too different, like pc viruses don't affect macs?

If it's clear, I'll be opening more emails that I even remotely suspect on my iPhone and iPad.

No, those viruses are typically made for computers.
It wont and cant affect a stock iphone.
