Hello,

With the Virtual PC STANDALONE Version, can i use the Windows XP CD that came with my Dell, in order to install Windows XP on my Mac through Virtual PC?

if yes, how do you go about the process?

thanks

Probably not... that's probably a "slipstreamed" disc that's made just for installing XP on that specific hardware and, just like the install DVD for one Mac won't work on another kind of Mac, it probably won't work. If you did get a full install CD or DVD from Dell, though, then yes.

VPC has a wizard...the option is something like "install Windows from CD"... it's pretty self-explanatory. :)

Even if it does work it's against the license you agreed to when you first started your Dell. You may only install that copy of Windows on the Dell you bought it with (even if you remove it from the Dell, OEM Windows from Dell is tied to the machine to keep costs down).

When you try and Activate Windows it will not let you activate that copy on a second computer.

I've installed XP from the Dell disc on several PC's before.
