The Apple Vision Pro ain't a pro product, let alone a first gen product. With it's limited functionality this thing feels like a devkit marketed as a first gen product, and good god it shows with just how lacking it is.

  • The absurd price tag
  • The lack of Find My support
  • Key Apple apps being missing
  • The new $300 developer strap
  • It's incredibly limited functionality outside of a small scope
  • The fact a device as big as this was revealed during WWDC
From the WWDC reveal to now, everything is pointing to this being a glorified devkit, and they're marketing it as not just a first gen product, but a pro model no less despite the fact there's nothing in this that warrants being over $3000. At this point I'm not even gonna call it Vision Pro but call it what it really is: Apple Vision DK1

Begs the question why Apple doesn't just come clean and say it's a devkit, and I got a few theories. The obvious is an attempt to normalize wearing a HMD and trying to turn the public perception of mixed reality around since Mark Zuckerburg did permanent damage with his metaverse larp. It's why Apple calls it "spatial computing" instead to control the message and tell people "no this is not Mark's metaverse." Another possible theory is to get their foot in the door quickly since them and Meta are in a race to get to AR glasses first, so Apple wanted to put their devkit out as a first gen product to try to draw attention away from Meta and get people to want their headset instead.

Of course all these are theories, and I'd like to hear your thoughts, or for you to just reply how I'm wrong or how you love your Vision Pro and that all criticism is stupid.

OMG poor Scaphandre.

Hold on, let me get Tim on the horn and see if I can get him to send you one of the Devkits.

Oh, sorry, he says your reaction score on MacRumors is too low.
