Just recently had a demo of AVP in the UK at the Battersea Power Station store and in the excitement of it all forgot to ask a question about my be all and end all reason for purchase, and that is its use as a home cinema.

I have thousands of films on a Synergy NAS (actually not quite yet - still on a wired Drobo, but very soon to update), collected over the years, so would these be available to watch in AVP? Or am I stuck watching films from Apple TV, Disney et al apps?

Does my ability to access these films depend on whether there is a synergy app available for the AVP?

BTW - was blown away by it, didn’t notice the weight at all, quality of it was mind blowing (was a little bit worried about this beforehand - was it really going to be as good as others have said? yes, yes it was) , but did notice a very, very slight disconnect when the demo ended and I went out into the fresh air, not dizziness , sickness or anything like that, and it wore off quickly.

I have thousands of movies stored on my NAS. I installed VLC on the Vision pro, added my server in VLC and are enyoing my cinema on a HUGE screen in the Vision pro. Works flawlessly.
Different formats from 960x540 to 3840x2160, different soundtracks. Works.

You will not be able to watch side by side 3D movies, as the "monitor" does not support it, but yeah - happy cinema.

doesn't moon player do side by side?

Just found out that Plex works as well - not AVP native but the app goes into the compatible apps folder in v1.

This is what I use at the mo’ with my Apple TV.

And the best of all: Just move it out of that folder and use it - I am astonished about the overall compatibility of all my apps. (V2 Beta regarding the menu opportunities here)

I just downladed Moon Player and have to revise my answer from a few days ago.
It plays everyting. 3D side by side, top bottom, even some 360 degree, fisheye format. Incredible. The screen is also shockingly huge. 🤣

And it does everything flawlessly. And it is AVP native and it plays from my NAS, just out of the box.

** Second edit: Get that Moon Player, if you want your own private cinema with leather sofas and a screen, you have never seen before. Turn around and have a look at the projector which is showing your movie.

** Third edit: I know that "Holo Deck" from the Enterprise from the movies. Right now I WAS in a Holo Deck in that cinema environment walking between the seats. 360 degrees perfect illusion, floor, ceiling. In front of my cinema the movie is playing. Tempted to sit on these beautiful leather seats.

I am on the Beta 3 of V2

Where do you get the sofas? Dark immersive just gives a large screen for me with YouTube.
If you go into the setup - top right of the menu with the play buttons, you get about 4 different opportunities. One of them is that cosy private cinema. If you do not see that, it could depend on the Vision OS - I am on Beta V2 or the fact, that it is not Youtube I am watching. I am playing local movie files over my network.

I do not see a single example picture of this on Google. Strange. Trying to make a "roomshot" of the scene - if I discover how to do that. 🤠

The beta to Infuse is also out now and is a great way to watch movies from a NAS with a native app

Just say "Siri take screenshot" or press both buttons on the VP.

Ah, when you mentioned a cosy private cinema I though you referring to a complete screening room - chairs, decorations, etc. It just has the screen ...

I did a screenshot, it did something, now I do not find the file 🤣

Regarding the cinema, yes that highlited selection bottom right is it. The description is definitely longer and the image shows the cinema. You are on the Beta of V2 too?
There is a spot of smudge on the seat in the first row to the right. Cannot remove it - I always see it.

Try to do a screenshot again tomorrow...

... i will search for that folder - tomorrow - thanks in advance :p

Sorry I wasn't clear. I should have said that it doesn't appear in the Vision Pro photos app?

No one reads manuals these days unless they have to ....:)

So, here is my little, cosy cinema. The image of the seat shows that nasty dirty spot in the first row, that I cannot clean 🤣

If you are not afraid to destroy something in your actual reality, you can walk around in that room. I did not try to open the door yet...

That little spot would be too distracting for me. It may bring me to the edge of madness...
Open the door at your own risk. If you survive let us know what you found! 😂

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah - bonk

...There was a pillow with the same spot on it down there

Regarding the spot: If you behave like you have to behave in a cinema, you will not see it. I just wanted to see, what is down there. Now I know it forever unless the Moonies clean it. 😆

It is the cinema environment in the app Moon Player VR. The highlighted, empty selection in your screenshot from tuesday. Strange, that you do not get it there…

Yes, strange. Maybe the rest of the theater will appear in a later update.

They recently published an update for the Moon Player VR. As you have bought it, I would simply delete it and redownlad it again from the AppStore. I reviewed the app and got a reply, that there will be another virtual cinema with an even bigger screen in a next update.

That did it! Wish the VP app store had an "updates" and "automatic update" option. There was no way for me to know that the Moon Player had been updated. I have filed a feedback report "App Store needs an "update" section" but it shows that there are no recent similar reports.
