I don't want to rack up those huge data roaming bills...so, do I need to turn off data or something?

I think you have to enable International calling before it is an issue. It will not roam unless you first contact them to turn it on.

I do have that on. I just want to make sure I don't stack up data roaming charges. Should I just turn off my mail checking?

On your iPhone, go to Settings > General > Network and make sure that Data Roaming is set to OFF.

It should be set to off by default.

I used to put my phone in Airplane Mode when going on vacation, but now I know about Data Roaming so I'm gonna use that.

I got my bill up to $2000 for roaming in Canada.
