Visiting US - buy Ipad there or use UK education discount?

Hi guys

I'm in the US (LA) next week and I'm trying to work out if I'm better off buying a new iPad (trying to decide between 32GB or 64GB wifi only) whilst there in-store or whether I should just use my educational discount in the UK?

Should I be adding an extra 10% sales tax onto the prices for buying in-store? I think even then it still puts it slightly cheaper purchasing in the US but not by much.
