Vista install error on mac pro but not macbook

I sucessfully installed Vista on my New Macbook Pro. I upgraded it from XP. I am trying to do the EXACT same upgrade on my early 08 Mac Pro and am getting an installation Stop at 55%... Any advice?

Have you tried a clean install? The upgrade feature is really horrible for microsoft operating systems...

I only have the upgrade version... That same disk worked on my laptop though.
