early 08 15" MBP running a bootcamp partition of vista premium x64 via parallels 4.0. I purchased this laptop to do some audio work on it, and at the same time to enjoy audio. I've been plagued with nothing but audio stuttering, high pitched whining, etc.
When I try to play audio files using a media player in windows vista x64 through parallels (vista is installed on a bootcamp partition), the music just can't play without huge amounts of skipping and stuttering. If I bootcamp into vista, the problem goes away. Likewise, playing audio in OSX is fine for the most part. An example: I play a music file in Winamp through Parallels 4.0 and the skipping is unbearable. Is anyone familiar with such an issue? is it a problem with Parallels 4? How about some other virtualization software out there?
You might ask why I would ever need to play audio through parallels.. IE why not just use an OSX player. I have a Napster To Go subscription, and I like being able to stream/download unlimited amounts of music to my laptop, but unfortunately there is no Napster client for OSX, only Windows. Plus, I like to be able to transfer tracks to my WM PDA phone via my MBP on the go. So does anyone have any experience using Napster or playing music on a virtual machine using parallels or any of its variants out there?
Thanks
