So in the past thee days, I've spent about four hours on the phone with Verizon tech support trying to get visual voicemail to work.

When i push the voicemail button, it calls my voicemail instead of taking me to visual voicemail. They keep telling me it's fixed, and it never is. I'm going to call them again tomorrow, but I was wondering if anyone on here had a guess as to how to fix it. I tried restoring my phone and resetting network settings. Anything else I can try on my end?

dont think there is much you can do at this point, especially if you've reset network setting and what not and its still not working, wait for tech support one more time, and return and get another Iphone if it doesnt work by monday.

I had this exact same issue. Call Applecare, and ask for a senior advisor. They know what they are doing and got my issue resolved.

They contacted the Verizon specialists who manually set up the voicemail on their servers. All I had to do was a day later open the voicemail and click set up now.

Hmm that's weird, mine works... when I click Phone then go to Voicemail, it shows me what looks like an empty message list (I haven't received any voicemails since I bought the phone). It lets me change my greeting though, which I tested and it does work. Also when I call manually (*86) it's a different recording than what I used to have on my old phone - the lady talks much faster now.

How did you purchase your phone? I bought mine from Verizon during the initial pre-order. When I was ordering, it told me I would be getting Visual Voicemail for $0. Then when I activated it, canceled the line, and moved the iPhone to my current phone number (all done through MyVerizon), it automatically added Visual Voicemail (again for $0) on that line too. It looks like it should come automatically with the phone when you activate it. When I was on the phone with my Verizon rep, I even had her double-check it to make sure it was added, and she said it was there automatically.

Pretty sweet deal I'd say... not sure why it would not work for everyone though.

Here's the longer version of what happened. When I got my phone, I set up visual voicemail. It worked. So then I ported my AT&T number over. Suddenly I could log into visual voicemail, but when people called me, they couldn't leave a message. I called Verizon, and they had me set up voicemail by dialing *86. Since then, visual voicemail no longer works. Period. It just calls. It seems, according to one of the eight VZ reps I spoke to, that the standard mailbox won't allow them to delete it, and it's interfering with my visual voicemail. They keep telling me it's fixed, and it never is.

I called Apple this morning, and they said all voicemail is handled through Verizon, that they can't do troubleshooting on that. So I am now on hold for the 9th or 10th time (lost count) with Verizon technical support, so they can tell me they fixed it again, and did not.

I love the phone. I love the coverage. It's way better than what I had on AT&T. But on AT&T, I actually had voicemail. It's getting very frustrating dealing with these people. Never had to call support on AT&T.

I had the exact same thing happen to me. It took many of hours of trying before I finally got a rep that knew what the problem was. They have to re provision your voicemail. It is a very quick and simple process for them. They just have to know to do it. I literally spent 4 hours on the phone and 2 hours at a Verizon store until I finally got someone who knew what they were doing.

This really is weird. I had to record a new message but after I did that, visual voice mail started working immediately. Works like a charm. I can't imagine why some phones would work fine and others wouldn't. :(

The support rep explained to me that there are two different vmail "paths" the system can be set up with. One is the VZW path and the other is a Iphone VZW path. If your iphone is set up to the VZW path, your VV won't work on the iPhone.

There is nothing you can do to fix the problem. You'll need to talk to tech support and have them check your set up. It must be happening to quite a few people... the wait tonight was an hour.

I am on iPhone #3 from Verizon due to the same thing

My first phone completely scrambled so Verizon sent me a second. The visual voicemail worked temporarily and then quit. I took it in and the Verizon store could not figure it out, nor could Apple so Verizon sent me a 3rd phone.I got it today and when I activated the phone visual vm worked. Then after synching it to my computer visual vm quit working and I have no notice of new voicemails. I have spent hours on trying to get a remedy for this. 4.5 just today on the phone between Apple and Verizon. I loved the phone initially but I am frustrated. Callers can leave a message but the only way for me to know if they left a voicemail if I missed a call is to call voicemail. Any input is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Ever given the thought of using Google Voice for your voicemail service? I've been using it over a year, starting with a Droid and now the iPhone and have zero issues with it.
