visual voicemail

I just got a 3g upgrade from my 1st gen iPhone. I set it up from a backup of my old phone and everything transfered over except VVM. Now when I press VM button it just dials a generic voicemail and asks fir the 10 digit number.
Anybody else run into this with the upgrade?

Call your provider. It is a problem with your VoiceMail system. You will loose your old messages, but it will work from then on.

Same thing happened to me...lost my voicemail messages too.

apparently a new visual voicemail box is set up when you upgrade.
