Ok so I just upgraded from the 3G to the 3G S today and I just went to check my voicemail and it's not visual voicemail, it just dials voicemail instead. Anyone else having this problem?

Let it dial in, wait a bit disconnect. I had to do this a few times then a popup asked for my password and its back.

Glad I wasn't the only one having that problem, I know it probably wasn't something to worry about but ever since I got an iPhone I love the visual voicemail haha.

When you upgrade from an iPhone to a new iPhone 3G S. The iPhone has to have the password and it is stored on the iPhone. That's how it does part of the Visual Voicemail magic.

There are two quick ways to reset it very quickly:

Change voicemail password from the voicemail box

  1. Press the Home key.
  2. Tap the Phone icon.
  3. Tap the Keypad icon.
  4. Tap and hold the "1" key.
  5. Enter the current voicemail password.
  6. Tap "4", "2", "1" to change the voicemail password.
  7. After a few seconds, iPhone will display "Password Incorrect - Enter Voicemail Password."
  8. Enter the new password and tap OK.

Reset voicemail password from AT&T's automated system

  1. Call 611 or 800-331-0500.
  2. Enter the wireless number starting with area code.
  3. Press 3 to “get help with voicemail.”
  4. Press 3 to reset your VM password.
  5. Enter the Billing Zip code for the account.
  6. After a few seconds, iPhone will display "Password Incorrect - Enter Voicemail Password."
  7. Enter the last seven digits of the wireless phone number and tap OK.
