Hi - relatively new Mac convert - i have some avi's that i want to burn onto a DVD to watch in a standard player - i found out how by using Visual Hub which is a great piece of software btw...

When i play the avi in Quicktime, it doesn't have any sound (the picture is ok) - when i play in VLC, there is sound.
However, have converted the avi to a DVD format, and burned it to a DVD, and again, there is no sound on the DVD version

so I am guessing there is a codec issue - if it is - how do i a) find out what codec is required for a specific video on the Mac please?

I have the same problem. What's up? Mov files end up without any sound!

i got it resolved in the end - just had a look round all the forum threads for similar topics, and then ensured i had loaded ALL possible codecs...

not sure which one in particular solved it...

but i have now downloaded and installed DivX, 3ivx, Flip4Mac, Perian and "xVid delegate" - and it's now sorted...

hope that helps...
