You can not compare these. Quality and performance wise, they're not even in the same universe. As you say, pricing is very different and that shows in quality. So the question is rather, can you afford the Stewart? If not then buy the Vividstorm (or something else). But if you can afford the Stewart, that's the way to go.
You're paying so much for the Stewart screen because of the quality of products they manufacture. There's no other manufacturer providing the same quality of screens. There are alternatives for acoustically transparent screens that are woven, but not non-AT screens or perforated ones. There simply isn't anyone out there matching their quality.Your right but you have to admit your paying so much for the Stewart screen because of its name brand.

The question is, do you need that quality? There's little point in buying into that quality when the used projector can't provide the image quality in the first place. Be it color gamut, uniformity or otherwise. Likewise, if you're not sitting too far off center, color shift can be largely ignored.
In the end, the screen material of Stewart is much better than what Vividstorm is using and the tab tensioned system can't be compared. The Vividstorm is somewhat loose and wobbly in comparison and nowhere near as tensioned and reliable as Stewart. Not even talking about years of usage. Again, the price is reflecting the quality. I would only buy the Vividstorm if I could not afford anything else and even then, I'd try to fit a regular framed screen or even pull-down ceiling screen before going for one. Your milage might vary though.

Yes, we answer questions over at AVS as well.
But in general, any screen that isn't a fixed frame and properly tensioned will develop issues over time. How it's mounted doesn't matter.
