vivitar vivicam5105S incompatible?

Hi.

I have a macbook running osx 10.5.6 and want to download a video from a vivitar camera (vivicam 5105S) but iMovie says it is incompatible. It recognizes the camera and the video, goes through the process of downloading it, but once completed then says there was a problem with downloading.

Is there a way to fix this so I can make movies from videos on my camera?

Oh, I have iMovie 08.
