Hi everybody, I need a bit of advice regarding live video playback. The thing is that for an upcoming concert I want to project a video simultaneously on top of a solo piece. the video is the one shown here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQvGKjCETEg&feature=PlayList&p=246900A16B6DCEDA&index=0&playnext=1

On that case the vid is in sync with a track, with us playing on top so it's easy to sync the fade out with the fade to black. Now I want to "reuse" the vid on a solo, but of course, I can be exact everytime so my question is:

Is there a way to fade the video with the standard video players (vlc, Qt Pro, mplayer) live?. A friend of mine will manipalute my mac, first i tried just to dim the brightness down to 0, but you get a white sign on the screen (like the one that shows when you rsie the volume). is it possible maybe with keynote and the remote?.

Any help will be greatly apreciated. thanks!!!

Good software for what you need.

This is the second person in a few days that could use Livid Instrument's Cell or Cell DNA software. I believe it will do what you need and then some. You'll have so much fun with it, that it will become your new instrument. It's not that expensive.

Go here:

Hi Bob,
many thanks for your quick reply. Do you know of any alternatives (preferably free ones)?. I do not have a midi controller, and i don't want to pay like 80eur for something that I don't know if i will be able to learn the software in the next days (i'm performing on monday...). anyway thanks for the tip, I'll consider that software for upcoming perfomances!!!

Try Google or VJ Central

David:

It seems that Cell will not be out in a box for 12 days. It is available as a download now. It looks good though and Livid is a good company.

BTW You can use a mouse for control--no problem. MIDI control lets one sync to MIDI controlled music. Hardware controllers are much easier to use when playing the instrument (i.e. VJ software).

For freebies try a google search or VJ central at http://beta.vjcentral.com/

Good luck.
